The reason that the grasses KBG and Rye have fewer “pounds on the ground” yearly than the “warm-season” grasses and turf-type tall fescue are because the label requires it. The label allows more for the grasses that are grown further south and into the transition zone since their seasons are longer. If your lawn is a mix of KBG, Rye, and Tall Fescue, then you can choose to use the greater application amounts if you think you need them.
Prodiamine Coverages Per Year
Tall Fescue, Bermuda, St Augustine, Centipede, Zoysia and Bahia Grasses
For warm-season grasses and turf-type tall fescue, if you follow the recommendations above, you will utilize .83oz or 23.5g per 1,000 sq ft. per year.
The bottle of prodiamine WDG is 5oz/141.7g which means it will cover 6,000 sq ft for one entire season. (2 spring applications and 1 fall application)
Here is the math:
5/.83=6.02
141.7/23.5=6.02
Kentucky Bluegrass, Ryegrass
For cool-season grasses KBG and ryegrass, if you follow the recommendations above, you will utilize .55oz/15.6g per 1,000 sq ft per year.
The bottle of prodiamine WDG is 5oz/141.7g which means it will cover 9,000 sq ft for one entire season. (2 spring applications and 1 fall application)
Here is the math:
5/.55=9.09
141.7/15.6=9.09
As you can see, we have rounded the math in these cases, but just know if you have Tall Fescue, Bermuda, St Augustine, Centipede, Zoysia, or Bahia you can cover 6,000 sq ft per year with this bottle, and if you have KBG or ryegrass you can cover 9,000 sq ft per year.
